SEPULTURA's 'Relentless: Thirty Years Of Sepultura' Biography: Foreword, Preface And First Chapter Posted Online
November 18, 2014The English-language edition of "Relentless: Thirty Years Of Sepultura", the first complete biography of SEPULTURA's epic career by Sao Paulo, Brazil-based U.S. author Jason Korolenko, will be made available on December 4 via Rocket 88, a UK-based publisher dedicated to exploring new worlds of music and popular culture.
The foreword, preface and first chapter of "Relentless: Thirty Years Of Sepultura" can now be found on the Rocket 88web site.
According to a press release, the book "tells the remarkable story of how Brazil's biggest musical act came to sell over 20 million albums worldwide. From their beginnings playing music that could have seen them arrested, through three decades of success, struggle and strife and including new details about members leaving, 'Relentless' uncovers the story of one of the world's most influential metal acts. Written with the support of the band, it is illustrated with over 70 photos, many from the band's personal archives, and most previously unseen."
Said SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser: "There is fantastic research on Brazil and the political context. It has some very detailed stuff on the songs, the studio… It's awesome."
"Relentless" was published in Poland on October 8 under the title "Sepultura - Brazylijska Fura" (which translates to "Brazilian Fury").
Korolenko is a widely published writer of horror fiction and music journalism.

Former SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera released his autobiography, "My Bloody Roots", earlier in the year. Kisser told Australia's Loud magazine that he had no interest in reading Max's book, which was co-written by British author Joel McIver, explaining: "It's just [Max's] opinion, that's all. I'm not interested to get into a fight to say, who's right, who's wrong… Of course I don't agree with everything, but if you have a mind and a mouth, you might as well express what you feel. It's just what you're feeling, that's it. It's nothing to do with what we're doing now and stuff, you know? I didn't read it, but of course people always comment [to me] about features of the book: 'He said that, he said that.' That's fine; it's just not something that is really going to change anything of what we're doing today. If he felt the urge to put something like that out, that's his… We're very focused [on] here, today. The music that SOULFLY or CAVALERA CONSPIRACY or whatever is doing is nothing to do with what SEPULTURA is doing. We're so much apart. It doesn't matter what you say, at the end of the day… There's so many opinions around the world, and I respect them all. But we're doing something very special. I think we've respected our past, but live in the present very much."
